Water Rats

A helicopter crashes into the harbour, colliding with an overcrowded sightseeing boat. As Tommy, Gavin, and the divers' fight to save the lives of a young couple trapped below decks, the detectives' investigation into the crash uncovers a trail of kidnapping and betrayal which lead up to the tragic accident.

When two men are reported missing and two bodies are found aboard a burned yacht, the detectives' suspicions switch between the jealous ex-girlfriend, the irate ex-boyfriend, the new boyfriend, and the crazed brother. Christey is convinced it's the ex-boyfriend but Alex is not so sure. Charlie Driscoll asks Jack for a favour.

Christey's house is broken in to, his gun is stolen, and soon after the body of an ex-con is pulled from the harbour, shot dead by a police-issue weapon. As evidence and witnesses begin to point towards Jack as the killer, he realises it is Charlie Driscoll who is setting him up as the prime suspect for the murder.

While continuing to try to break out of the trap Charlie Driscoll has set for him, Jack finds himself caught in the middle of a power struggle taking place within Charlie Driscoll's crime empire.

An old flame of Alex's becomes a suspect in a murder investigation causing tensions to rise as Christey tries to keep her out of the investigation. Meanwhile, Blakemore is devastated after learning the armed robber she shot was only carrying a plastic pistol.

Alex deals with the consequences of sleeping with Matthew Grierson, as the protest against the Marina development continues. Blakemore's career is in jeopardy when she is investigated by Internal Affairs.

When a doctor's car plunges into the harbour, the Nemesis is first to respond and Gavin's new partner, Matthew Quinn, dives into the water to pull the man from his car, too late to save him unfortunately. As a series of arson fires are set at properties owned by the deceased doctor, the detectives focus their investigation on one of the doctor's patients who is a serial arsonist.

Detectives find a woman bound and gagged aboard a yacht. She says she is the victim of a stalker, but her paranoid claims have Jack wondering if perhaps she is not making it all up. Meanwhile, Sykes leads an effort to catch a pair of notorious pickpockets and Jeff learns an uncomfortable truth from an old friend who is conducting an unpopular conference at Water Police headquarters.

The Water Police concentrate their efforts on locating two young girls believed to have been abducted while on their way to school. Sykes and Reilly are recruited to work alongside two agents from the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation on a seemingly innocuous surveillance job which ends in Mick facing a charge of sexual harassment.

When a body is found on the shore after being washed out of a shallow grave, the detectives' investigation sets its sights on a suspect whose arrogance and open defiance of the police begins to frustrate Jack and Alex. ASIO steps up their surveillance of Sykes while Mick prepares to fight the sexual harassment charge.

Alex and Reilly investigate the murder of a restaurateur for which their only witness is a ferocious dog. Sykes, Quinn, Woods and Rorke take part in an anti-terrorism training course.

Continuing their investigation into the murder of Cosimo Luvece, Detectives St. Clare and Reilly have no shortage of possible suspects as family secrets begin to be exposed. Quinn takes an interest in the case of a fatal boating accident involving a man he and Gavin charged with impaired driving earlier in the day.

The detectives' search for the man responsible for an armed robbery and the murder of his hostage is complicated by the determined efforts of a TV reporter and the murder victim's grieving sister who takes the law into her own hands by abducting Christey and a suspect at gunpoint in order to extract a confession.

The detectives try to determine the identity of a lost six-year-old girl found wandering Circular Quay in blood-streaked clothes and eventually find themselves trying to unravel the circumstances of her father's murder. Constable Matthew Quinn is devastated when a young woman in his charge commits suicide by jumping off the balcony at the station.

The investigation of a murder yields the detectives two witnesses but each one identifies a different man as the killer. Meanwhile, Quinn and Sykes are kept busy by an elderly escape artist practising his dangerous craft in the harbour.

While recovering at a rehabilitation centre from his gunshot wound, Mick's missing wheelchair is returned with an exhumed body in it. The strange case leads Jack and Alex into the investigation of the faked death of an accountant with ties to a people-smuggling operation. The Nemesis crew apprehend a young shoplifter and subsequently find his ill mother on board a yacht filled with illegal fish.

Mick and Alex investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man whose body is recovered from the harbour near the location where two troublesome speedboats have been racing. Their investigation quickly focuses on the dead man's boss whose wife he had been openly having an affair with. Quinn's romantic involvement with one of the boat drivers lands him in hot water with Hawker.

A religious cult becomes the target of the detectives' investigation when the body of a murder victim is pulled from the harbour near their commune. Sykes searches for the woman who saved his life following a jet ski accident.

Alex is kept busy dealing with the problems of her fourteen-year-old sister, leaving Christey and Reilly to investigate a pair of robberies and two brutal murders.

Quinn and Sykes' discovery of a body in an illegal fishing net sends the detectives on an investigation that introduces them to the world of on-line romance. Sykes hopes a quick resolution to a domestic break-and-enter will help him in his quest to become a detective.

A young street kid, who is an acquaintance of Alex, becomes the detectives' prime suspect when his pregnant girlfriend is found murdered. Hawker's attempt to help a friend after her business is robbed results in him becoming an unwitting accomplice to a murder.

While investigating a case of illegal medical-waste dumping at a swimming hole, Alex and Mick find themselves searching for a killer when half a body is found among the recovered waste. Meanwhile, Hawker occupies himself by searching for answers to help him understand Aimee's actions.

A drug importing deal goes horribly wrong when a small-time crim, captured as part of a Water Police sting operation, tries to implicate notorious Sydney crime figure Laurie Parsons in the deal. An eighteen-year-old girl confronts Jack claiming to be his daughter. Sykes worries about Quinn when he breaks off a high speed chase for no apparent reason.

The investigation into just who was involved in the drug deal gets even more complicated with the kidnapping of Laurie Parsons and the disappearance of $3 million in ransom money. Meanwhile, Gabrielle McMahon admits to Jack that Sophie is their daughter and despite her initial refusal to see Sophie, Jack is able to reunite mother and daughter before Sophie returns home.

Hawker calls on Alex and Mick to investigate the viloent mugging of a homeless woman whom he is an acquaintance of. Their investigation is soon complicated by a murder, Alex being held at gunpoint by a suspected killer, and a robbery. Meanwhile, Quinn and Sykes look into a series of marina robberies and Donna keeps watch on a dog at the Water Police headquarters while searching for its owner.
