It's registration day at the Southeast Lineman Training Center, and we find that linemen have a rich history and culture in a highly marginalized industry. The students are about to find out just what it takes to become a part of this elite community.

Welcome to the first day of class. Here's a bag of tools. Here are some boots. Meet your new instructor. Now get climbing! The demands of the first day prove too much for a few.

We are a few weeks in and the students have just reached the top of the pole. Now the real training begins.

Climbing techniques can be taught but strength has to be earned. Our characters discover some of the heavy lifting involved in cross-arm installation.

Pole circles are done and its time to learn how to string some wire. Students must follow rules diligently because these are the steps that will keep them alive on the job.

Instructor John realizes that he needs to give his students a new way to learn. He dusts off his belt and hooks to lead by example. The students also get a private tour of an Altec Industries factory to see where the trucks they rely on are made.

12 students are nominated by there fellow classmates and pitted against each other to see who the best of the best will be in the "SLIM" competition.

During the last few days at the school, many of the students will spend their time in the study halls preparing for the final exam, while a few others have chosen a path that will push their mental and physical abilities to the breaking point.

Bodies broken, burdens laid bare, the true self emerges, and our students go forth. Each started The Awakening one person and emerged another: better, stronger, more focused.

Our students have now had several weeks of training and are building confidence by the day. Tonight, however, they must repair power lines mangled by the skilled hands of their very own instructors, simulating a true emergency power restoration.

After a critical final exam, it's the morning of graduation and SLCT's main campus has a celebratory feel. It's time for students to show hard-earned strength to loved ones. Have all the sacrifices been worth it?

Our students return home and start their new careers. SLTC gears up for the next class coming in, but this time it's different. The next class with have 2 women attending, Which only make up 0.03% of the lineman workforce. This changes everything...
