Becoming

In the first episode of the series, we meet the four participants Ramazan, Gugu, Yaya and Gina as they each unpack their respective childhoods and the many challenges they faced because they were living in wrong body.

In the second episode of the show, Gina meets with her family to discuss her upcoming surgeries, and to let them know she wants to change her name. Gugu convenes a family meeting to tell them about his trans journey, and to ask them for their support.

In episode 3, Gina visits her therapist to unpack the emotions she has been dealing with since she decided to transition. Yaya visits a plastic surgeon to discuss breast augmentation surgery while we get a glimpse into Rama’s life as a father and husband.

On this episode of Becoming, Rama and his wife have a meeting with his family where they disclose that they are in fact married, while Gugu meets up with his ex-girlfriend to apologize for how things ended between them.

Yaya goes on a date with her love interest, a trans man named Nino. Rama and Gugu join their friends at the car wash to catch up, and they are surprised when an ex -girlfriend of Rama joins them

In episode 6, Gina consults with her doctor and finds out her options if she wants to have children in the future. Rama attends the high court in support of a member of the LQBTIQ community who was murdered, and Yaya celebrates her father’s birthday.

Yaya continues with her journey of finding her mother. Gugu meets with his doctor to prepare him for a breast surgery. A tribute to Ginaas she died on the 24th of July 2020.

On the 8th episode of Becoming, Gina's friends go down memory lane. Yaya goes on a search for her mother and visits her family home. Gina's family remember her at the grave site.
