Speed has a time travelling Orb installed in his car by his father to prevent accidents. The car is struck by lightning during the race and is accidentally sent far to the future as the Orb faces a power surge. They travel to the future to find that their future selves are in prison for rebelling against the evil plans of Leland of making robots programmed to rule over the humans.
