Portrait Artist of The Year

Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell present the tenth series of Portrait Artist of the Year from The Grand Hall of Battersea Arts Centre in London.

In this third heat, nine artists are challenged to create a portrait of one of three celebrities: former politician and podcaster Rory Stewart, celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott, and actor Rob Delaney.

In this fourth heat, nine artists are challenged to create a portrait of one of three celebrities: former professional tennis player and TV presenter Sue Barker, TV gardener and broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh, and psychotherapist and presenter Philippa Perry.

In this fifth heat, nine artists are challenged to create a portrait of one of three celebrities: comedian Josh Widdicombe, opera singer Nicky Spence, and ballroom dancer come Strictly judge Shirley Ballas.

In this sixth heat, nine artists are challenged to create a portrait of one of three celebrities: actor Nigel Havers, journalist and news presenter Mishal Hussain, and publishing trailblazer Vanessa Kingori.

In this seventh heat, nine artists are challenged to create a portrait of one of three celebrities: actors Daryl McCormack, Lenny Rush and media personality Joe Sugg.

Stephen Mangan returns to the Grand Hall at Battersea Arts Centre for the semi-final of this tenth series of Portrait Artist of the Year. Transformed for today's challenge, a stunning backdrop adorned with flowing red drapes and lots of glam provides artists with a clue to their semi final celebrity sitter.

After making it through to the semi-final, just three artists remain in the running to become the tenth Portrait Artist of the Year.

In this programme, the winner embarks on their 10,000 pound prize commission to create a portrait of pioneering conservationist Dr Jane Goodall. We see our winning artist build a relationship with the sitter, as they reminisce and celebrate a ground breaking career.
