1971. Aspiring journalist Joyce Prigger struggles to find a home for her feminist magazine until low-rent pornography publisher Doug Renetti offers to help her achieve her dream… with one catch: each issue must feature a nude male centerfold.

Fearing that Doug’s salacious ad partners will kill Minx before its newsstand debut, Joyce seeks answers from her familiar country club set. Meanwhile, influenced by her new feminist ideals, Bambi envisions a new role for herself at Bottom Dollar.

The arrival of the Valley’s newest councilwoman spells trouble for both Bottom Dollar and Minx. When her contributors begin to pull out with only 36 hours before print, Joyce scrambles to come up with new articles that conform to her own high-brow standards.

After Bottom Dollar is audited, Tina and Doug scour the books – and their employees’ pockets – for the missing money. Meanwhile, as the Minx team prepares for the magazine’s long-awaited debut, Joyce finds herself in a sticky situation with one of her coverboys.

When Doug forces her to make nice with the Mob, Joyce finds herself surrounded by the gangster’s wives – who offer some sage advice. Meanwhile, the Minx team struggles to capture their missing leader’s artistic vision for their renaissance-man model.

After sales from Minx’s first issue fail to impress, the Bottom Dollar crew takes to the streets to build brand awareness. But while Richie, Bambi, and Shelly’s word-of-mouth campaigns see some success, Joyce creates chaos on campus in her attempts to woo a celebrity guest and her fittingly feminist college students.

As controversy continues to mount over the magazine, Minx begins to sell out, first in LA, then nationwide. But what Doug sees as a cause to celebrate, Joyce deems a fall from grace – until an offer from an unlikely source helps set the record straight. Meanwhile, Bambi helps Richie enter the LA art scene.

In 1968, Joyce deals with misogyny from her colleagues in New York. In 1972, the newly-minted editor-in-chief of Minx takes stock of all that she’s fought for during an appearance on an iconic TV talk show – despite interference from Doug.

While Joyce enjoys all that New York has to offer, Doug discovers that running the magazine without her is surprisingly difficult. Meanwhile, after Joyce’s embarrassing on-air announcement, Shelly turns to Bambi for help getting her marriage back on track.

When a spicy lawsuit lands Minx in hot water, a disappointed Joyce recruits Bambi and Richie to help take a stand against Doug. Meanwhile, a men’s rights movement led by a local radio personality fights back against Bottom Dollar Publications.
