Morocco to Timbuktu: An Arabian Adventure

Alice sets off from Tangier, where she learns about the gold mines of sub-Saharan Africa, and then on to Fes, home to the world's oldest university. Next she takes the Marrakech Express to the great market town before trekking through snow and storms across the mighty Atlas Mountains and exploring forgotten ruins on the edge of the Sahara Desert.

Alice embarks on a camel ride across the desert, where she hears a shocking story of modern-day slavery, and then stops in Tamegroute, where she finds a hidden library of ancient books. After a border dispute interrupts her journey along the salt roads, she flies to the capital of Mali before ending her trip in Timbuktu itself.
