Ella makes the family give up the use of all electronic devices; CJ learns a surprising secret; a Hollywood actor does research at the barbershop for his next movie.

The firefighters are called to a very bad building fire. Calvin becomes anxious and wants to do more to help, so he disobeys orders from Curtis and goes into the burning building.

When Malik is repeatedly bullied for his lunch money, Curtis meets with the school principal, where it's revealed the bully is a girl whose foster mother is Madea.

Already depressed with getting older and failing to recapture his youth, Curtis is teased with gag gifts at the firehouse and is in no mood for his surprise birthday party.

Malik befriends a girl, Courtney, at school. He invites her over for dinner with the family. Everyone thinks Malik really likes this girl because he says that she's very special.

Janine is dating a football star, who Curtis loves. On the same night, C.J. has a date with Tanya. Janine wants to see how Bryan is with the kids, so C.J. reluctantly agrees to let the kids go.

It's Malik's birthday and he wants a grown up party with a D.J., go-go dancers, and catered food; Plus, a new cell phone…Malik then says if he can't have what he wants, he doesn't want to have a party at all.

C.J. is unconscious and trapped under a beam in the burning building. Everyone's worried. They call for back up to help rescue C.J., but Curtis refuses to wait.

Ella is having drastic mood swings and snapping at Curtis, Calvin and the kids. She is also very hot, which causes her to blast the AC and make everyone else freeze. Ella talks to Claretha about it and learns that its menopause.

Everyone reminisces about good times they've had with C.J. as clips are shown. C.J. finally gets out to safety. C.J. is taken away by paramedics.

It's game night, men against the women! Game starts the men and women go head to head in movie categories. But in the heat of the game, Ella's old college friend, Bernice, reveals that she and Curtis slept together in college.

After their house is destroyed in what looks to be arson, C.J. and his family move in with Curtis and Ella, while Janine's increasingly erratic behavior creates suspicion.

As Calvin gets into the business of selling knockoff designer bags, the family pleads with C.J. to recognize that Janine is showing all the signs of drug addiction.

Calvin plans a surprise party when he learns his friend is coming home from Iraq. Meanwhile, Malik has to write a school paper about his role model, and Curtis and CJ try to bribe him into choosing one of them.

Ella goes for a biopsy to determine if lump in her breast is cancerous or not. She has surgery to have lump removed & learns that it was benign. Janine goes to the doctor to examine her breasts, but finds out she's pregnant.

Witnessing his harsh management style at the firehouse, Curtis's mentor demands he take anger management classes, while C.J. tracks the missing Janine to a crack house.

Michelle, the host of "Sparks," a reality TV show about firefighters, convinces Curtis to let his firehouse be the focus of an episode. Michelle interviews all of the firefighters about their duties at the firehouse.

Calvin is graduating school! Ella wants to throw a party and Curtis buys him a car. The school made a mistake and he's four credits from graduating. He fears telling Curtis. When he does Curtis is stunned and tries to kill him.

Curtis is annoyed with how spoiled the kids have become. He thinks they take things for granted and decides to teach them a lesson. He then makes them volunteer at the firehouse's food drive.

C.J. returns to work at the firehouse in order to get over his funk since learning of Janine's drug use, while Curtis is convinced Malik is gay.

Kevin and Malik talk about a few guys at school who said they've done "it." And now Kevin thinks he and Malik are ready to do "it," too. So, against Malik's wishes, Kevin invites some girls, over to the Payne's house.

Janine is discharged from the rehabilitation center after successfully completing her program.

Kevin is staying over at Malik's for the weekend. They decide to go to the movies and meet with some girls. As they're leaving, Kevin is hit by a drunk driver. In the end, Kevin has surgery and recovers well.

After hearing the kids complain, C.J. decides that he should take the retirement money that Curtis offered and move into a new place after all. Upon hearing the news, Curtis is ecstatic.
