June 1940. On the beaches of Dunkirk, under relentless German shelling, thousands await evacuation. Julien abandons his friends to flee with the English but narrowly escapes a burning freighter. Back on shore, he rescues Jeanne from two soldiers and kills her attackers. As the two try to escape together, a bomb strikes—killing Julien and shattering their fragile hope for freedom.
