The Jeffersons

George wants to hire a maid for his new luxury apartment, but Louise, having worked as a maid herself for many years, doesn't feel comfortable with the idea.

A piece of primitive art given to the Jeffersons by the Willises sparks an inter-family battle about the importance of ancestors. George, totally unimpressed by anyone's ancestry, goes through a quick reversal in attitude when he gets some exciting information about his own background.

Living the life of the idle rich is driving Louise right up the walls, but her solution to the problem is creating an even greater problem.

Louise is extremely upset over Lionel's new "playboy" attitude; George, on the other hand, loves the idea of his son rubbing elbows with the rich. George quickly changes his point of view about Lionel's new lifestyle when he learns his son is thinking about quitting college.

Dedicated to his new philosophy of "not making waves," George wants nothing to do with a tenant protest meeting. But when he learns his banker and fellow-tenant H.L. Whittendale is expected to attend, George not only changes his tune, he also insists on hosting the meeting in a style he hopes will impress even the penthouse-dwelling banker.

George sees his life going down the drain when "Monk" Davis appears from out of his past and threatens to rattle a skeleton in his closet unless George coughs up same cash.

A cold reception from George and Lionel greets a visit from Louise's Uncle Ward because the Jefferson men feel a more appropriate name for him is "Uncle Tom." Louise puts George and Lionel on notice that they'd better behave, but things don't exactly work out that way.

Mother Jefferson finds romance and is talking about heading for the altar and Florida. Louise is in ecstasy and George is in agony.

George tries to harness the power of the press for his own ends. Convinced publicity will mean a boom to his business, George tricks a newspaper reporter into coming to his home for an interview.

George doesn't know whether to be pleased or dismayed when he gets the "rich man's disease." Louise finds herself facing the impossible task of keeping George away from anything that aggravates him.

George's past is about to ruin his future, at least that's what he fears. George's nightmare begins when he discovers that Louise has invited some old friends from Harlem to dinner at the same time that he has invited a high society businessman.

When Lionel comes on like his father, sparks start flying between him and Jenny. George makes matters worse by touching off fireworks between Jenny's parents, Tom and Helen.

Jenny gives her brother an ice-cold reception when he suddenly appears after a two-year absence. George is the only one who understands Jenny's strange behavior and, unfortunately, he makes no bones about saying no.
