Katie is stunned when Matthew reveals his intentions and they agree to meet and discuss. In a bid to cheer Katie up, Emma to dinner. Giving in to her emotions, she decides to go see Matthew, who is not home alone. In the interest of research, Katie arranges a meeting. At the office, Luke wastes no time seducing the new receptionist.

Katie struggles with her story on Monogamy. Eddie decides to get serious about fitness and invests in a personal trainer. Katie's mom arrives unexpectedly to sort things out between her and Matthew. Katie attempts to explain the gigolo situation. She is late for Eddie's birthday party, who thinks she is not coming and starts a fight with Guy and Jimmy.

Matthew is furious by what he discovers in some of Katie's articles. Katie asks the priest who married her and Matthew to write a column, and eventually finds herself attracted to him. Luke makes a date with the daughter of a ganster and borrows Eddie's apartment for the evening. Emma reveals some surprising news and Matthew and Natasha meet at the celebratory party.

Katie's sister turns up on her doorstep. Visiting Matthew Beth bumps into Natasha outside his house. Katie is doing a story on Mary and is finding it difficult to get Matthew out of her mind. A comment by Beth raises her suspicions. Eddie's shocked he has his mind on something other than Katie. Paula has come back into his life keen to re-establish their old relationship.

Katie has a bet with Luke. Matthew asks her out to lunch to discuss some things. Katie's competition with Natasha reaches crisis at the party of Eden, where everything goes wrong and she falls off the wagon. Luke experiences strange emotions, and gets some bad news before the party. Mel's feeling the pressure trying to juggle working life and motherhood. At the party Mel makes a move on Eddie.

Katie presumes she and Matthew are back together. However, recurring dreams have her start a dream diary for the magazine. She whisks Matthew off for a romantic weekend away. Eddie is miserable because Mel is furious with him. He misses her and manages to persuade her to go on a date. Beth turns up to Luke's Nan's funeral. He offers to cook her dinner, where he makes a very un Luke-like offer.
