The Glory Is Gone

Someone got up on the wrong side of bed this morning. Neither Tom nor Hanna are willing to admit to being in a bad mood, although they both have their reasons. A harmless question has serious repercussions, and before the day has even really started, accusations and bad juju go flying everywhere — even the kids are grouchy. Tom thinks he can save the day with the help of the family planner.

When Trudy explains she’s convinced that women become invisible to men after a certain age, Hanna tries hard to persuade her otherwise. Not an easy task when Tom is around to chip in. Together they play matchmaker and help Trudy to set up a date through an online dating site.

Hanna and Tom can’t remember the last time they had good sex. Is it because there’s too much going on with three kids in the house, or is there something wrong with their relationship? They schedule time to be intimate with one another, but things don't go according to plan. Still, where there’s a will there’s a way!

The prospect of Hanna becoming the C.E.O. of her publishing house sparks a debate with Tom about gender roles: He thinks that there are some things men are better at than women, and vice versa. And that’s before Hanna tells him she’d be earning more money than Tom. Their debate ends with a parking fine, and it’s very clear who has won.

Hanna’s parents come to visit. Everyone is worried about Hanna's father, who seems to be growing more forgetful with age. It turns out he is not the only one. When they announce that they’re selling their house, Hanna is devastated — what about Christmas? Good question. Apparently, there comes a time in your life when the baton of responsibility gets passed on to the younger generation...

Hanna and Tom have a date at the theatre with Judy and Andrew. Tom is ready and the taxi is waiting, but Hanna is taking her time deciding on what to wear. When the taxi leaves without them, they have to take the car — but where are Tom’s keys? Luckily Judy and Andrew are having a similar problem...

George has cancer and is about to be operated on in Switzerland. Shell-shocked, Hanna and Tom plead for a less invasive approach, but George refuses to get his hopes up. Eager to take care of some unfinished family business, he asks Hanna and Tom for a favour, just in case this proves to be goodbye for good.

When Frank leaves her for another woman Kiki shows up in tears, ready to move in. She has no idea what she has done to deserve this. Eager to see her leave and certain he knows what went wrong, he begins to explain his theory. None of this goes down well with Hanna, until Kiki shows her true colours.

The family is out for an afternoon walk when Leon spots a car he really wants for his 18th birthday. But how will he afford it? Beyond becoming a Youtube star he has no idea what he wants to do with his life. Hanna and Tom are totally taken aback when they hear that he’s is thinking about dropping out of school; but Hanna and Emmi eventually get to the bottom of Leon’s problem.

Hanna and Tom vow to keep this Christmas stress-free — easier said than done. While Emmi is uneager to celebrate with them this year, Tom’s parents can't wait for the party to get started. Perhaps it’s best to leave out the extended family in the future. But when Hanna strikes a deal with Emmi, Christmas dinner gets off to a harmonious start...
