Chihayafuru

Après avoir joué des matchs d’entraînement contre le Maître Suô à l’université de Tokyo, Chihaya et Taichi fêtent Noël avec les autres membres du club de Mizusawa et se donnent rendez-vous le 10 janvier pour assister au match pour le titre de Maître et de Queen.

Le match pour le titre de Maître et de Queen débute à l’Ômi-Jingu, entre Hisashi Suô et Hideo Harada d’un côté, et Shinobu Wakamiya et Haruka Inokuma de l’autre. Amis, collègues d’association et supporters sont présents sur place ou suivent la retransmission de la première manche en streaming.

Le match pour le titre suprême continue à l'Ômi-Jingu. Shinobu, en difficulté pour Haruka Inokuma, perd ses moyens. De son côté, le docteur Harada semble avoir mis au point une stratégie pour ravir le titre de Maître à Hisashi Suô. Portera-t-elle ses fruits ?

Le match pour le titre a repris des deux côtés, avec la troisième manche chez les femmes et la quatrième chez les hommes. La défaite est interdite pour le Maître comme pour la Queen en titre, puisqu'ils sont chacun à une manche de perdre leur couronne !

Après la victoire de Shinobu Wakamiya, qui conserve son titre de Queen, le match est sur le point de se terminer chez les hommes. Qui de Hisashi Suô, le Maître en titre, ou de Hideo Harada, son challenger, va l’emporter ?

Sitôt les matchs pour les titres de Maître et de Queen achevés, la compétition reprend… Taichi reste à Kyoto pour la Coupe du prince Takamatsu, tandis que Chihaya, rentrée à Tokyo, participe au tournoi du Nouvel An.

Après sa défaite contre Arata et sa quatrième place à la Coupe du prince Takamatsu, Taichi n’a pas le moral, et cela se ressent au club de karuta. Les filles décident d’organiser une fête pour la Saint-Valentin afin de détendre l’atmosphère.

Chihaya a réussi à réunir 36 participants pour la Coupe de Taichi, à qui elle fait jouer quatre matchs à trois contre trois. Puis la nouvelle année débute au lycée, avec pour chacun des objectifs communs mais également individuels…

La nouvelle année a commencé, avec des fortunes diverses… À Mizusawa, le club de karuta doit apprendre à vivre sans Taichi, tandis qu’au lycée Est de Fujioka, Arata se démène pour créer son équipe, avec laquelle il espère pouvoir être compétitif dès le tournoi lycéen fin juillet.
