The Indian Doctor

Trefelin is in for a shock.When the local doctor dies, his replacement is not quite what people expect. Prem Sharma is the Indian doctor who arrives in the Valleys in 1963.Prem's wife Kamini is not too happy with their placement. The Coal Board's local manager, Richard Sharpe is keen to welcome the new arrivals. The doctor makes some new friendships and starts to settle into life in the Valleys.

Colliery manager Richard Sharpe is still desperate to find a mysterious green leather diary left behind by Prem's predecessor, Dr Elwyn. His plan to pay local street urchin Dan Griffiths to steal the diary from the surgery backfires when Kamini catches Dan red-handed. While Kamini confronts Sharpe, Prem has an emergency of his own to deal with when he is asked to make a very unusual house call.

It's payback time when Dan steels Sharpe's car. He didn't bargain for the fact that he nearly runs over Kamini. She ends up defending him once again, and gets herself into trouble. Prem goes to confronts Sharpe about the diary, and realises that all is not as it seems in the household.

In an effort to diagnose the miners™ health problems, Dr. Sharma arranges for an x-ray van to come to town. Turnout is poor at first, until the driver causes a real stir.

Amongst all the fun and frolics of the annual village fayre, Sylvia publicly humiliates a deflated Sharpe. Tom gets word that he is off to London to cut a record, but a disappointed pregnant Gina has no option but to let him go alone. Prem and Kamini are made to feel very welcome, and are finally beginning to feel at home.
