Cagney & Lacey

After an easy arrest in a broad daylight burglary, Cagney and Lacey are offered information in exchange for leniency. Unfortunately, the information is on a fellow 14th precinct detective who the criminal saw take heroin from a crime scene.

Cagney and Lacey confront "old world" values when they must investigate the murder of a young girl who has rebelled against her strict religious upbringing. Cagney is interested in being involved with a potentially career-changing task force.

While suffering through an autumn heat wave, Cagney and Lacey accidentally discover that an accent is the link between a string of Park Avenue burglaries. Meanwhile, Lacey is stuck on a broken down elevator with Isbecki, who is claustrophobic.

The bloody trail of a stolen handgun ends with near fatal consequences for Detectives Cagney (Sharon Gless) and Lacey (Tyne Daly) when Mary Beth is shot. To help deal with the stress, both women are sent to see the police psychiatrist.

Cagney (Sharon Gless) is devastated by the loss of her father, Charlie (guest star Dick O'Neill), who finally succumbs to alcoholism. Meanwhile, Lacey (Tyne Daly) becomes an overnight celebrity when she saves the life of an infant.

While Mary Beth Lacey (Tyne Daly) rides high on a wave of awards and promotions following her heroic save, Christine Cagney (Sharon Gless) slips into the abyss of alcoholism after the death of her father, Charlie (guest star Dick O'Neill).
