Wind At My Back

Faced with bankruptcy, Honey and Jack Bailey are forced to move their family from the city to the small town New Bedford and live with Jack's imposing mother, who does not approve of their marriage.

When Honey leaves her young boys in the care of their domineering grandmother, they struggle to get along. Hub and Fat Bailey decide to run away to a lake cabin and try to make it on their own. When the boys learn freedom isnt really all they dreamed of, the journey makes them appreciate home a little more.

Hub and Fat attempt to find clues for a $1,000 reward and encounter down-on-their-luck vagrants who have lost everything due to The Depression. Getting to know people outside their community changes their perspective on the hunt for the reward.

While the boys practice intensely for a local competition to win prize money, Honey gets sick and is fired from her job in a garment factory. Honey and her kids are forced to build trust and reevaluate their understanding of family.

Hub and Fat dog-sit a beloved collie named Pal, who keeps causing trouble with May and with the neighbors. While the boys struggle to adhere to May's rules, ultimately the experience of caring for Pal brings them all closer together.

Honey's luck has turned for the worse, and she must take refuge in a mission, while Hub gets a weekend job at a farm and Fat gets a small part in a local Chautauqua show.

Honey gets a new job at the Bailey Mine Office, while Max Sutton saves the boys from a confrontation with an unruly townsperson.

Max is an amateur writer and stages a play with the local dramatic society. Once Aunt Toppy gets involved in acting, she becomes Max's champion! However, the play begins to consume her life and it puts her family relationships in jeopardy.

May Bailey's hold on Grace's life takes a serious turn when her potential suitor, Judd Wainwright, invites her to accompany him to his cousin's wedding. Grace and May turn over a new leaf in their relationship!

Honey's brother, Joe Callaghan, makes a surprise appearance in New Bedford and joins forces with Hub and Fat in trying to make Honey's dream of owning a home come true.

While Hub and Fat gather money to buy Honey a birthday gift, Max tries to convince May to allow Violet to attend Honey's birthday.

Hub's marks in school take a hit and feeling frustrated, he decides to join the "Midnight Movers," a business that moves tenants out of their apartments so they can skip out on their rent payments. It puts him on a collision course with his grandmother and many lessons are learned.

Honey settles into life in New Bedford and her friendship with Max grows. However, Honey's attempts to get her daughter Violet returned from the foster family are in jeopardy when her caregivers threaten to disappear, which causes consternation amongst the Bailey family.
