Rocka-Bye Island

Each day, Sean and Roisin hop on board their school-boat with their school friends and head off to a magical preschool, where they meet their teacher, Mister O’Dear, who just happens to be a deer! Through imagination, adventure and teamwork, the children learn about their world and how it works, all with the support of their many animal friends on the fantastical and enchanting Rocka-Bye Island!

At the school, the group are getting ready to go to Otter Creek for a picnic. While Ruari gets their lunches ready, Lee and Conor argue over who is getting more bananas and who's getting less.

It's lunchtime at the school and some of the children don't want to finish their vegetables. They've left their brussels sprouts, peas and carrots behind. The upset veggies sing a song about how they make you grow healthy and strong but Brigid, Lee, Conor and Ciaran still aren't convinced.

The children are playing hide and seek. Before Conor can find anyone the game is interrupted by a strange noise outside. It's the call of the corncrake; a shy bird that visits the island in springtime. \ Playing outside in the school's backyard; Ciaran is terrified by a little spider. Conor gets carried away during a game of dress up at the school and his pirate voice is too loud. When the game turns into a treasure hunt to the Pirate Cave Conor's shouting causes even more trouble - it echoes off the cave walls and wakes up baby bat Eduardo.

The children have just arrived at the school when Conor announces that he's lost his Captain Smelly doll. After a quick search he turns up inside Conor's hood. Crisis averted, the group head off on a long hike to the Foggy Isthmus.

After spending the morning pretending to build a skyscraper, the children decide to go on a hike to Inis Spraoi's oldest building, the mound at Two-Knocks.

After hurting his leg playing football, Conor has to use a crutch and isn't able to walk very far. This gets the children thinking about how different animals get around.

The class are being measured by Mr O'Dear to see how much they've grown. They're all getting bigger, but their poor plant isn't growing.

Lee and Ciaran are putting on a show for the others; but Conor can't seem to stop interrupting. The class decide to spend the rest of the day at Waterfall Glen; searching for the Hush A Bye birds; which Roisin says are "so cute you'll go crazy". / Playing with Mr O'Dear's old kayak is great fun for most of the kids; but Lee's too "teensy" to sit in it. The children are playing their favorite musical instruments. After some practice, they're all excited to go on a musical parade to Seagull Rock - everyone except poor Roisin. She can't choose an instrument she likes, and her singing makes the other children laugh.

Sean isn't having a very good morning at the school - no one wants to share their toys with him. Tired of playing inside; the children decide to go out and take some pictures of the island from the top of Skipper's lighthouse. \ The story opens with the kids playing in the school's back garden. Sean is impressing the others by flying a kite really high; the string breaks and the kite disappears...

It's the day of the Inis Spraoi boat race. The kids have made their own boats to race in the waterbasin; but some of them won't float. They sink to the bottom; and the kids can't figure out why. Conor suggests a trip down to the dock to see if Skipper Seamus can give them the answer. / It's too rainy to play outside and Sean's not impressed - he hates getting wet; and he can't go on the seesaw...

It's a warm day and Ruari's been baking so all the windows are open in the Schoolhouse. The children notice a funny smell; which seems to be coming from King Spud's Farm; and they go off to investigate. They're sure that Cecil pig must be the source of the funny smell; but he insists that pigs are very clean animals. / During a game of dress up; Ciaran finds a crown and starts acting like a King.

The children are excited because on their journey to school; the sea level was nearly up as high as the dock when they got off Skipper Seamus's dingy. Ruari explains that this is because there is going to be a full moon that night - the moon pulls the sea up even higher at high tide. / At school Brigid takes a joke from Ruari's puppet show too far and teases the other children.

The children spend a rainy morning learning some new dance moves from Ruari. While tidying the school the children discover Conor has taken Ruari's plate and Brigid's favorite shell for his 'yellow collection'.

The children hear a strange noise outside. It's the call of the corncrake, a shy bird that visits the island in springtime. The kids learn about camouflage, which birds and animals use to blend into the background.

The kids decide to go out and take some pictures from the top of Skipper's lighthouse. They all want to see the view but they only have one camera, one telescope and one pair of binoculars. The kids learn to share things with others.

Ciaran is terrified by a little spider. Mr O'Dear comes to the rescue and scoops the spider up in a tin. The kids are impressed with his braver. Mammy O'Dear sings a song about how it's ok to be afraid, but you shouldn't let it spoil your fun.

The group decides to go the Waterfall Glenn that day where they meet Sully the Falcon who's got a problem, he's forgotten how to fly. The kids help Sully remember through a song about not giving up.

Roisin boasts that she never brushes her teeth. Although the other children try to explain the importance of keeping your teeth clean, Roisin just doesn't get it. They hike to Whale Cove where they meet Finn, a lonely whale with a bad case of bad breath.
