Sisi: Austrian Empress

The overthrow of Napoleon III in France also causes turmoil in Vienna. Franz feels the need to begin his son’s military training earlier than expected. Sisi objects, and makes the decision the free her sensitive son from the barracks.

Sisi flees Vienna with Rudolf and leaves an ultimatum. She will not return until Franz leaves her in charge of their son’s upbringing. The two make it as far as the south of France, but their whereabouts do not go unnoted.

Sisi and Rudolf finally regain their love for life on the island. In Vienna, Franz fears the merging of the German Empire with Russia, and learns the whereabouts of his wife and son.

Emperor and empress are reunited in the South of France. But after a passionate night, Franz secretly travels back to Vienna with Rudolf. Sisi is left with nothing, but Franz will soon question his decisions.

When Sisi learns that Franz has taken Rudolf out of the army, she returns to Vienna. In addition to negotiating the alliance with Russia, Sisi also tries to restore the strained relationship between the laborers and the imperial family.

Sisi learns that her son has been kidnapped by a laborer who demands the emperor's life in exchange for the crown prince's release. Closely followed by Franz, Sisi rides off to rescue Rudolf.
