Posing as a fashion photographer, serial killer Christopher Wilder (aka "The Beauty Queen Killer") lured young women from shopping malls with promises of fame and fortune. Most ended up dead. National publicity that the FBI created led to the capture of the suspect in 1984.

In 1993, a mother, her 8-year-old son and a live-in nurse were brutally murdered by an assassin. The multiple murder-for-hire plot was meticulously planned and executed. the FBI was able to zero in on fomer Mowtown Records music producer Lawrence Horn, father of the 8-year-old, and the contract-killer James Perry. This triple murder resulted in controvery around the book Hit Man.

In 1985, South Carolina serial killer Larry Gene Bell was a predator, abducting girls and young women from their own front yards in broad daylight. He was a sadist: he phoned one victim's family, taunting them, boosting then dashing their hopes. He wouldn't stop. The FBI was determined to put an end to the serial killer's deadly game of cat and mouse.

Violence shattered a quiet Texas neighborhood in 1988 when a mother and child are kidnapped and murdered along with a bystander. In their search for drug trafficker and killer Genaro Ruiz Camacho, the FBI exposed a drug cartel that flourished where it was least expected.

The body of an unidentified young woman turned up on a highway in a small Pennsylvania town. Agents persisted, eventually identifying the body and finding the killer.

The bodies of several young women began turning up in shallow graves in the Alaskan wilderness. In one of the first cases of successful criminal investigative analysis, FBI profilers mapped the criminal's mind and captured serial killer Robert Hansen.

The FBI investigated the Dixie Mafia after the 1987 murder-for-hire killings of Mississippi Circuit Court Judge Vincent Sherry and his wife Margaret in Biloxi, Mississippi. They quickly uncovered a corrupt local government and a group of violent criminal conspirators.

Lured by the easy wealth of the narcotics industry, crooked cops in the New Orleans Police Department began breaking the laws they were sworn to uphold. FBI investigations of alleged corruption and drug trafficking in the early 1990s grew to include the 1994 murder of Kim Groves.

After two brothers abduct and murder bank president Dan Short, FBI agents slowly piece together tiny shreds of evidence. Eventually, they're able to convict the Agofsky brothers for 1989 Noel, Missouri bank robbery.

In 1984, a couple swept through six states like a plague, acting without rhyme or reason. They targeted adults and young girls for kidnap and murder. During their rampage they left plenty of clues, but moving targets are the hardest to hit. The gruesome crime spree spanned six states and left eight people dead, so the FBI launched a manhunt for spree killers Alton Coleman and Debra Denise Brown.

In December 1994, Joann Katrinak and her 4-month-old son, Alex, mysteriously disappeared from their home. A new DNA technique ended the mystery, in one of the first cases of DNA being successfully used in a criminal investigation in the United States.

The FBI began a massive undercover operation designed to expose the Chicago Mafia's infiltration into the city's surrounding suburbs. The investigation of alleged Chicago Outfit activities in the Chicago suburb of Willow Springs, Illinois resulted in the arrests of former Willow Springs police chief Michael J. Corbitt and prominent Chicago attorney Alan Masters for murder and racketeering.

A series of brutal bank robberies and murders led to an exhaustive eight-month investigation by the FBI. What followed was the 1986 FBI Miami shootout, one of the deadliest firefights in FBI history.

The bodies of several women began turning up around the city of Vienna, Austria. Viennese police turned to the FBI for help. The FBI and Austrian Federal Police investigated suspected serial killer Jack Unterweger, who became an international outlaw, hopping from country to country to evade capture and to kill again.

A sniper murdered two young black men as they jogged with two white women. The FBI placed their suspect on their Ten Most Wanted list and began an intense manhunt. What followed was the arrest, trial and conviction of white supremacist serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin in the early 1980's.

Two brothers gained national attention after a videotaped shoot-out with state and local officers in Wilmington, Ohio. The brothers escaped and fled the state. But when a family was murdered in Arkansas, the crimes were revealed to be part of an ever-widening circle of violence that defined a new age of domestic terrorism. The FBI launched their manhunt for murderer Chevie Kehoe and his brother.

Two officers had been shot and one had been murdered in Washington, D.C. They had been sitting in their patrol cars when a man sneaked up on them and opened fire. The 1995 murders of Prince George's County Police Department officer John Novabilski and FBI Special Agent William H. Christian Jr. compelled the FBI to help catch the cop killer in a confrontation which lead to a violent gun battle.

Six black males had been brutally murdered; two had their hearts cut out. The only thing connecting the victims was their ethnicity and the fact that each had been shot with .22 caliber bullets. The FBI launched an investigation into Joseph Christopher, who became known as "The .22 Caliber Killer."
