A first-time grizzly mom must protect her cub from other aggressive bears and teach it survival skills if they are to defy the odds and survive the summer in the Alaskan wilderness.

The bears must catch hundreds of salmon to bulk up for the harsh winter. A mother grizzly teaches her cub how to fish while keeping a watchful eye on other bears who become more of a threat as winter approaches.
