Five years ago, Alice Ejbye's 18-year-old son was murdered by a serial killer who was never caught. Now suffering from terminal cancer, Alice asks criminal profiler Louise Bergstein to help solve the case.

A young man has been found brutally murdered. Louise Bergstein and head investigator Karina Hørup suspect that the murder is the work of a serial killer who may now be active again.

Louise and Karina believe that the serial killer has claimed a new victim: William Fjeldby, who is missing. Meanwhile, his father clings to the hope that his son has been kidnapped for ransom.

Alice Ejbye receives bad news from the doctor. Despite two new victims, the police have yet to find the man who killed Alice's son. In desperation, Alice promises a reward for information in a video that goes viral.

Louise is in mourning after Alice's death, as Karina issues her with an ultimatum regarding the case. Meanwhile, Alice's death raises new suspicions, which take the investigation in a new direction.

Louise continues the investigation to find the serial killer, who now has six murders to their name. With Karina, Louise returns to the first victims in an attempt to find out where they met their killer.

Unaware of his true identity, Louise spent a night with Peter. Karina is trying to find new evidence for the investigation on her own, and an earlier clue resurfaces, moving the case forward.

The police take Johannes to the station, and Louise fears that the truth about her and Peter Vinge will be revealed. Meanwhile, Peter meets his ex-wife, who has returned to set things straight.
