Dicte discovers the body of a young Bosnian woman. The police investigator, Wagner, tries to keep Dicte out of the case--despite her discovery that the corpse wasn’t the only Bosnian woman in the city with something to fear.

Out of favor with the police and her own newspaper, Dicte remains resolute and will stop at nothing to get to the truth. Her latest case takes an unexpected turn when Rose’s new boyfriend, Darko, is investigated by the police.

Dicte finds a burnt car in her neighbor’s driveway. In the house, her neighbor appears to have committed suicide. Eventually, Dicte uncovers a secret world of fervent religious beliefs and perverse sexuality--and a shocking family history.

Dicte finds herself in the limelight when a rival newspaper’s investigation discovers her own big secret--a secret that links Dicte to a murder victim. But it’s not just her past that has been raided--Dicte arrives home to a break-in.

A newborn baby is discovered dead from hypothermia and dehydration and Dicte is convinced that Muslim fanaticism and family pressure are responsible. She decides to investigate despite Wagner’s warnings about jumping to conclusions.

The entire police force is searching for Ida-Marie’s baby. This case is personal for Dicte and for once, Wagner let’s her into the investigation. When the trail goes cold, Dicte must revisit the past she has tried so hard to bury.

Dicte looks into the death of a man found naked with his eye’s gouged out. Tipped off that the murder may be linked to organ trafficking, Dicte digs further. Does her informant have his own agenda? He does, but it’s not what Dicte expects.

After 24 years apart Dicte has finally found the son she gave up but it’s not the reunion she dreamed of--he’s only interested in her kidney and she’s not sure she wants to give it to him. Meanwhile, Anne’s guilt gets the better of her.

Dicte is interviewing a politician when a bomb explodes nearby. A woman is killed, though Dicte is sure that Francesca was the real target. Meanwhile Dicte’s son, just released from prison, has somehow left his prints at the crime scene.

Dicte is forced to lie to Wagner to buy herself more time. She senses that Peter is hiding something from her, and the mystery only deepens when she discovers the three orphaned children share a past and a pact.
