Nothing happens twice

Early 1990's. A young couple, Katia and Dima Bogdanovs, arrives to a military base at the Georgian border. Katia is wearing a wedding dress: they are newly-weds. Political officer Ogniev, a loner, immediately sets his eyes on Katia.The frontier post's commander, Major Ilya Kalinin, is a decent man, but he is confused about his relationships with women.

Katia Bogdanova meets Irina, the orphanage principal. Political officer Vadim Ogniev falls in love with Katia at first sight, even though he is seeing Irina. A war game is being held at the border post. Ogniev ends up in the hospital saving a boy who accidentally wandered into the maneuvers area. Young Aglaya is introduced to Lidiya, her boyfriend Yura's grandmother.

Soldier Visam falls in love with Raisa, major Kalinin's girlfriend. Raisa flirts with him, flattered by his attention. She finds out that Visam's father is a rich Jordanian. Nurse Katia Bogdanova attends to the wounded Ogniev at the hospital. One morning she wakes up after a night shift in Ogniev's bed. In a few days Katia finds out she is pregnant.

A few months later, the Bogdanovs welcome their first daughter, Masha. Ogniev, who shares a big house with major Kalinin, gives up his premises in favor of the Bogdanovs. Katia, Dima, and their daughter move in. Suddenly, an explosion destroys the outpost commander's house. Kalinin is killed in the explosion along with Katia and Dima Bogdanovs.

20 years later. Ogniev, a prospering businessman, lives in Spain. He goes to Georgia to settle the accounts with his business partner Irakliy. Irina, the orphanage principal, has raised the two orphans, Masha Bogdanova and Alla, as her own daughters. Irina's son Boris is in love with Masha. Raisa lives in Jordan. She hopes to become Visam's wife, but he brings home a second wife.

People die in an explosion on a yacht. Ogniev had been on board, but his body isn't discovered. Yura's grandmother Lidiya Nikolayevna, the operatic star, finds out she has a great-grandson. It appears that Yura's and Aglaya's son has survived and was adopted by the gynecologist, Nella. Gleb is 20 now, and he comes to work with Aglaya.

Masha takes Vadim to her adoptive mother Irina, who realizes he is her former lover. They reminisce about their past. We see through flashbacks how Raisa had ended up in Jordan. She had to marry Aziz, Visam's father. But she is still in love with Visam and would do anything to change her life. Aglaya gets a call from Lidiya Potekhina, the grandmother of her first boyfriend Yura.

Irina is trying to explain to young Masha that Vadim Ogniev isn't a good match for her, but Masha is too charmed by Vadim to listen. Ogniev disappears, because his partner Irakliy wants to get rid of him. Opera singer Lidiya dies before she has a chance to tell Aglaya that her son is alive. Her son Vikentiy, his wife Zhanna, Yura, and his new wife Zoya are coming back from Switzerland.

Vadim takes his love Masha to Spain. TV host Aglaya gets an offer to do a show about the late opera singer Lidiya Potekhina. Nobody knows about the tragic role Lidiya had played in Aglaya's life. Meanwhile, the lawyer invites Aglaya to the reading of Lidiya Potekhina's will.

Ogniev and Masha are in Spain. He wants to marry her immediately, and Masha is on cloud nine. When she sees her wedding dress, it confuses her: it's made after the '90s fashion. Masha is unaware it's a copy of the dress her mother Katia had once arrived to the outpost. Aglaya meets Vikentiy, Yura's father, to discuss Lidiya's will.

Masha fights with Ogniev who had called her Katia in his sleep. Yura tries to meet and talk with Aglaya, but she doesn't want to have anything to do with her. She is preparing for the new talk show and tells the story about Lidiya Potekhina, her boyfriend's grandmother, persuading her to have an abortion. Aglaya is unaware that her new employee Gleb is her biological son.

Masha calls her friend Alla and tells her that she loves Vadim very much, but he is a controlling type. Boris is having a hard time because of his beloved Masha's leaving to Spain. He is going to go there to see her. His mother Irina tells him Ogniev was responsible for the explosion at the outpost that killed Masha's parents.

Pobegaylo, Raisa's former lover, notices Alla wears the earrings he had once given to Raya. He takes interest in Alla and begins to suspect whose daughter she is. Meanwhile, Raisa lives in a luxurious house in Jordan, but her life is far from enviable. She recalls seducing Ali the driver to make him get her husband Aziz killed in a car accident.

Boris comes to after being beaten by Vadim Ogniev. He finds out his mother Irina died of an asthma attack. Old Glasha, a former nurse at the maternity ward, approaches Aglaya. She wants $25,000 in exchange for information about Aglaya's son. Boris tells Masha about Irina's death, and she wants to go to Batumi for the funeral. Ogniev doesn't want his new wife to go.

Masha comes to Georgia, where she finds out Ogniev had once been in love with her mother Katia. The gorgeous Alla goes to Spain on an invitation from a small model agency. She is being trapped and brought to a house full of strangers. Alla wakes up and realizes she has been raped. She gets back at her offenders and goes to Jordan.

Alla visits in jail her birth mom Raisa who is serving time for a murder. Masha stays in Batumi and confesses to Boris that she is pregnant with Ogniev's baby.A few years later Masha and Boris have a daughter together, but Masha harbors the hope to find her older daughter kidnapped by Vadim Ogniev. Accidentally she sees Ogniev with a little girl on someone's amateur video taken abroad.
