Commissaris Piet Van der Valk finds himself investigating the murder of a young student found dumped at a dockyard. He is less than thrilled when his tight knit team is joined by overly keen rookie Job Cloovers at the behest of his boss.

One of Van der Valk’s team is injured in pursuit of a mysterious suspect. Dahlman warns him to tread carefully around the candidates of a hotly contested election, but Van der Valk risks the wrath of Dahlman to catch the killer.

After Lucienne is dumped, Van der Valk takes her out to drown her sorrows. But the next morning, they are found together – starting the rumors up. A murder draws the team into a world of religious erotica, shamans and mystics.

Van der Valk and the team are forced to negotiate a tangled web of lovers, employers and relations, all with a motive to kill. Will Van der Valk be able to untie the mysteries of faith and family at the heart of the crime?

A fashion vlogger is murdered and the crime broadcast across the internet. Lucienne works out that Van der Valk’s poor mood is linked to a certain parole hearing. Then, another member of the fashion world is murdered in spectacular style.

With a second murder to solve and the ramifications of the parole hearing growing more serious, Van der Valk and Dahlman’s relationship is strained.
