Robin of Locksley heads home from the Crusades, to find his people starving and brutalized under the tyrannical rule of the new Sheriff. He quickly discovers that the only way to reason with this Sheriff is with bow and arrow.

The humiliated Sheriff storms into Locksley village, threatening dreadful revenge until Robin Hood surrenders. Robin has no choice but to give himself up. However, with the outlaws on his side, all is not lost.

Robin must form an unholy alliance with the Sheriff of Nottingham, when a mysterious sniper murders innocent people in Nottingham. But the Sheriff has his own agenda.

An imprisoned Roy is given a terrible ultimatum: kill Robin Hood or watch his mother hang at sunrise. Meanwhile, Robin and his men discover an abandoned baby in Sherwood Forest.

King Richard's birthday turns out to be a day of surprises, when Djaq is captured on a raid at Locksley Manor, and Robin discovers a terrible secret about Gisborne that sends him spiralling out of control.

The Sheriff has locked up castle scientist Lambert to torture him into revealing the secret of his new explosive black powder. Robin has to rethink his rescue plan when Much is appointed Earl of Bonchurch, but will his and Marian's hopes go up in smoke?

Saladin's cousin, Prince Malik, has arrived in Nottingham to broker a peace deal with Prince John, but the Sheriff is holding him for ransom.

A shock awaits Little John and his family inside the Sheriff's dungeons. His wife and son discover he is not dead after all, and Little John discovers bowmaker Luke has been looking out for them in his absence.

While Robin seeks out Physician Pitts, news spreads of King Richard's return to England. This prompts Gisborne to bring forward his marriage to Marian, who responds by setting out on one last mission as the Nightwatchman.

As the Sheriff prepares to welcome the King, Gisborne prepares for his wedding, and Edward and lords loyal to King Richard are preparing to rise up against the Sheriff. Meanwhile, Robin is unable to come to terms with losing Marian.
