Hidden Assets

A woman lies dead in an Antwerp apartment; a suicide bomber detonates his device at a fashion show. In Ireland, Emer Berry of the Criminal Assets Bureau finds rough diamonds in a raid, along with that Antwerp apartment"s deed. Emer teams up with Belgian anti-terrorism cop Christian de Jong, who learns from Irish heiress Bibi Melnick that the dead woman worked for her company at Antwerp"s port.

Darren Reid"s killers escape. Christian tells Emer another bomb is expected. In Antwerp, billionaire Richard Melnick shows the site for his new European headquarters to his son James, Bibi"s husband. Soon the CAB team link drug dealer Reid to Fionn Brannigan—Bibi"s brother. She tells Christian she left Ireland because of her brother"s dodgy dealings. It emerges that Reid"s last call was to Fionn.

Rough diamonds are found in Fionn"s offices. Emer links this evidence to the bombings and warns Fionn that his life is in danger. Christian discovers that one of Sana"s friends has been beaten by a fellow officer; a roundup of Muslims ensues but yields no breakthrough. As the net closes in around Fionn, Bibi is feeling the pressure, too—especially when her wayward brother reaches out for help.

As the search for Fionn begins, Christian suggests that Fionn"s frequent travels to Surat, India, may point to a diamond connection. DNA evidence identifies the Antwerp bomber as a Colombian thief who supposedly died in a Bogotá prison days before the bombing. The earlier Brussels bomber was also Colombian, and when Emer spots a photo of a third Colombian, she believes he is their next bomber.

While Christian"s team searches for the bomber, CAB looks for a money trail linking Bibi to Fionn"s diamond-laundering scheme. Bibi offers Fionn"s wife a payoff, but she wants more money in exchange for Fionn"s hard drive. Sana"s friend Kamal turns up at the station with information about the night Sana disappeared, giving Christian and Emer a crucial lead.

Now in custody, Bibi admits to financial crimes and aiding the bombers, but under Belgian law she will only be charged with money laundering if she helps prevent the next bombing. Emer and Christian face a desperate race to stop the bomber and uncover who was really behind the terrorist campaign—and why.
