Harry drives one baby away and Sheila stays in the house with the other. Val cannot retrieve her children without their birth certificates. Gary grows suspicious about Abby's involvement with the babies, and Sumner and Laura share dinner together.

Hospital records show Val's babies were born dead. Mack finally locates Nurse Wislon. Karen brings Val two big surprises.

Val finally gets to enjoy her children, but now Ben worries that she won't have any time for him. The Empire Valley site is blasted in preparation for construction, and Gary grieves over the loss of his brother, Bobby.

Val allows Harry and Sheila to say good-bye to the twins. Mack meets with the governor's assistant, Jill Bennett, about state adoption papers. And Val finally names her twins.

Cathy has unexplained bruises on her face. Sumner hires a male secretary, and Mack continues his investigation of adoption rings but doesn't want help from the person the governor sent to assist him.

In front of Sumner and Abby, Elliott corroborates the phony geological survey to Gary. Cavanaugh's nurse agrees to testify against him in exchange for total immunity. A jubilant Mack and Jill spend the day together.

Gary realizes he may be the father of the twins. The geological survey company lies to Gary and admits it made a mistake on the site. Val asks Ben to marry him. Cathy's marriage to Joshua continues to disintegrate.

Val and Ben announce their engagement. Karen hosts the wedding at Lotus Point. After Joshua displays a violent outburst, Val insists he move out of her home. Gary talks to Val on her wedding day.

Val and Ben get married. Lilimae finally realizes that Joshua is dangerous. Elliott is involved in a terrible accident.

Joshua concocts a plan for Cathy and him to remain together...forever.

Gary discovers the survey plans are fake. Lilimae tries to make it appear that Joshua was a good person. Joshua's father shows up for the funeral. A hit man stalks Abby and Gary.

Cathy moves into Ben's vacant beach house. To Abby's dismay, Gary solves the Empire Valley situation once and for all.

Lilimae tries to interfere with Cathy's career, but Cathy won't allow it. Linda tells police Joshua didn't commit suicide.

Gary tells Val he knows that he's the father of the twins. Ken gets indicted for Joshua's murder. Cathy's feels guilty about knowing the truth behind Joshua's death.

Gary and Jill go on a date. Cathy confesses the truth to Karen and Mack about Joshua's death. Laura and Sumner's relationship gets closer.

Karen loses the planning commission appointment to Abby. Cathy and Lilimae recount to the police the events leading up to Joshua's death. Cathy's new saxophone player has a big secret.

Olivia discovers Abby's secret knowledge about the twins and leaves home. Mack ponders Jill's proposition.

Peter tells Sumner that they are half-brothers. Val discovers that Sonny is a reporter.

Karen can't forgive Mack. Olivia rejects Abby. And Sumner makes a proposition to Peter.

Abby hires a private detective to investigate Jill. Gary gives the twins a very generous gift.

Abby confronts Gary about his gift to the twins. Michael gets caught with something that belongs to Olivia.

Michael refuses to tell Karen whose marijuana joints were found in his car by the police. Gary crashes his car, and Mack discovers Jill's secret.

Olivia makes a confession. Jill reveals her past to Mack. Sumner makes an offer to Sylvia, and Gary has a surprising request for Abby.

Abby's secret about the twins is revealed. Sylvia confesses to Abby. Eric becomes very ill, and Gary surprises Abby with something she's wanted for a long time.

Gary sees Jill and Peter together at her hotel. Eric's condition improves. Abby makes an offer to Sumner.
