Island Nation:Hoping

In 2003, a new infectious disease (SARS) spread across Asia, Taipei is not yet vigilant. Under the leadership of the latest director, Taipei Bo-Ai Hospital turns into a profit oriented business model. Shi-Kai Lo, the doctor of Bo-Ai Hospital, failed in the promotion as the vice director, he quits in a feat of rage and take the proposal being an official at the Department of Health of Taipei.

In order to join WHO, the Taiwanese Central Government started to propagate the proud "Zero Infection" record. However, the Director of the Department of Health Taipei and the Mayor work against the Central Government. The President Mu-Kuan Chen gave in to media pressure in the end. While the Taipei City Government is still basking in victory, and the crisis is quietly approaching.

Yumei Chen found the patients and her hospital colleagues on the same floor start to get fever one by one. They all reported as "suspected cases of SARS" after reexamining. The hospital discovers that cluster infections have been happening within, which prompted Taipei City Government to lockdown the hospital and summon all the patients and medical staff back to prevent the virus spreading out.

The first suspected SARS case appeared in the Taipei Bo-Ai Hospital. The patient transferred to the Medical Center, assuming that would be fine if he was removed. However, didn't expect that the patient casually throws away his infected attire when he is being transferred. The hospital janitor picked the clothes up and unconsciously spreads the virus across the entire hospital.

Due to the sudden lockdown, a thousand people trapped within the hospital, the management system collapsed, and the whole hospital was in chaos. Those patients with confirmed case died one after another. An initial patient, Guoqing Zhu, committed suicide out of the guilt of killing his wife because he hid epidemic information disclosure. The Taipei City government is slowly losing control...

Out of the shock of witnessing Guoqing Zhu's suicide, a registered nurse broke down. Ward 8B, the hardest hit area, still no help, leaving only Yumei Chen and her colleagues to struggle. The chaos in the hospital caused an uproar after being reported by the paparazzi media. The President Mu-Kuan Chen receives pressure from all sides, he gave orders to execute the "36 Hours Rescue Plan"...

As Bo-Ai Hospital recovers from the crisis, Yumei Chen unfortunately passes away due to SARS. Her fiancé, Shi-Kai Lo is drowning in self-guilt, and the worse, Lo is blamed and dismissed. Seeing that the city government shows no signs of remorse, out of rage, Lo decides to expose the whole truth to the publics at the Bo-Ai Hospital reopening ceremony.
