Seven untrained culinary students meet their chef/mentors and cook them their personality on a plate. After realizing how much hard work is required to become a chef, Amanda questions whether she has what it takes.

The students must start from the bottom up, learning how to survive the fast paced diner environment. A new student arrives which makes the rest of the house wonders if Amanda is gone for good.

The students learn about flavor profiles where they must use the five tastes in a challenge. Things start to get heated when a fight breaks out in the middle of a knife lesson.

The students learn how to cook the perfect medium rare steak. Harrison tries to earn his way back in to the house after his blow up.

The students compete in a seafood challenge. What they don't know is they will be paired with some of their least favorite house mates. Suki and Will's friendship starts to fracture when they compete head to head.

The students compete to make the most decadent dessert which will be featured on Sweet E's Bake Shop Menu. Meanwhile, tension rises between Will and Suki.

The students learn about the catering business where they compete to make 500 appetizers each for the LA Auto Show. Will finally confronts Suki resulting in a fight with Amanda.

The students travel on a party bus to each of the chef's restaurants to learn about food and drink pairing. At the house, Coach Chris tells the students to prepare a brunch for their family and friends, who are arriving shortly for a visit.

Chef Brooke explains to the students the ins and outs of creating and running a food truck. She then splits the students into two teams: boys vs. girls. to compete to see who can create the best food truck dining experience for the lunchtime crowd.

One by one, the eight students sit down with the chefs to talk about their experience so far. The chefs try to determine which of them really wants a culinary career and whose heart is still in the competition.

The final three prepare their tasting menus for a packed restaurant. The chefs taste each of the menus and judge the finalists on the composition of the menu, execution, and overall performance throughout the season.
