The people of Earth are shocked by the arrival of large alien spacecraft that appear over major cities. The aliens themselves appear benign, offering to exchange their advanced technologies in return for replenishing their supplies. Earthlings are soon divided into two camps: those who welcome the Visitors with open arms and those who see them as a threat.

As the Visitors continue negotiations with the United States and other countries to establish diplomatic relations, opponents begin to piece together the extent to which aliens have already infiltrated human society.

With the signing of a treaty and the opening of diplomatic relations, the Visitors are formally granted entry to the United States. Meanwhile, Anna sees a potential problem in the growing anti-Visitors movement.

The Visitors continue to win over the population, this time by announcing that they will share their vast medical knowledge.

The Resistance recruits Kyle Hobbes, a weapons expert who is wanted by the FBI, to train them into a fighting force. Meanwhile, Ryan is concerned about Valerie's pregnancy, since Visitors and humans were supposedly unable to procreate.

Anna believes she has found a way to identify Fifth Columnists: they are acquiring human emotions and can be screened for them. Meanwhile, the Visitors announce that humans will be allowed to live aboard one of their 29 ships.

When Georgie is taken prisoner aboard the Visitors' mothership, Erica and the others attempt to locate John May, the Fifth Columnist who founded the Resistance and disappeared 10 years ago.

Chad and Anna attend the UN Energy Summit to present a gift of technology to the world. Meanwhile, Erica learns that the V Task Force is investigating the Fifth Column and Valerie goes on the run when she realizes that something is different about her baby.

With the sniper under their control, Erica wants him to reveal the location of the hard drive with the names of the Fifth Columnists. Kyle is prepared to do whatever is necessary to get the information, but Father Jack is reticent.

Upon learning of Anna's plan to dispatch a shuttle full of trackers to eliminate Fifth Columnists, the Resistance decides to shoot it down before it lands.

After a violent attack on someone close to Anna, she decides it's best to leave. Erica and the team try to find a scientist who may have created a weapon the V's are afraid of.

To make a statement about their opposition to the Visitors, Erica and the others decide to board the mothership and destroy Anna's eggs.
