Pangako Sa 'Yo

In the humble province of San Felipe lives a young lady, Amor, who is hoping to finish college in order to provide a better life for her family. She sells home-cooked dishes to the employees of Buena Mines, a mining company owned by an influential family, the Buenavistas. She finds inspiration in the handsome Eduardo Buenavista whom she often daydreams about and perceives as a real-life prince.

Amor goes all the way to Eduardo's office, not to confess her love for him but to seek his help in behalf of her father and the other miners who fell ill due to the terrible conditions at the quarry. Although it is against his mother's will, Eduardo makes an effort to assist their workers, and in the process, he inevitably gets involved in their lives, especially in Amor's.

Despite having known each other briefly, Amor and Eduardo find love in each other- a love so strong that it breaks the heart of Diego, Amor's secret admirer and Eduardo's younger brother. But instead of Diego, it is his mother Doña Benita who reacts violently to this news, for she believes that Amor is only after their family's wealth.

Amor and Eduardo are both determined to fight for their love, but the odds are heavily against them as their actions become the primary cause of Buena Mines' continuing downfall. It is during this time that Diego finds an opportunity to hang out alone with Amor, only to end up losing control of his emotions and forcing himself on her.

Eduardo and Amor's once sweet relationship comes to a bitter end, with Eduardo thinking that his beloved had betrayed him.

News of the earthquake in Talimpao reaches Amor, and she hurriedly returns there from abroad in the hope of helping her troubled family. However, only a sea of debris greets her arrival there - a tragic scene which Buena Mines is partly responsible for.

Being the new governor of Punta Verde, Eduardo now has greater responsibilities to fulfill - ones that cause him to neglect both his health and his family's emotional needs. It is this negligence on Eduardo's part that fuels his teenage son Angelo's dislike for him, which Angelo shows through his wayward behavior.

Yna's and Eduardo's paths cross when the latter saves the girl from her kidnappers, who all happen to be Julieta's patrons. Despite the risks Eduardo took, he finds a sense of happiness at the company of Yna - something that he has never felt ever since he and Amor separated in the past.

Although Angelo's desire is to become a chef abroad, his love for his mother and sister compels him to momentarily give up on his dream and obey his father's wishes. With this, Eduardo tasks Angelo with the responsibility of reviving Casa Corazon, the Buenavistas' financially crumbling resort - the place where Yna and her family now reside and work in.

Yna and Angelo take some time to get along with each other as employee and boss, mainly because of their misunderstanding in the recent past. However, Angelo is secretly mesmerized by Yna's beauty, but he does not let this distract him from his goal to improve Casa Corazon's services.

Realizing that his political enemies will stop at nothing to destroy him, Eduardo reconsiders his decision to let Yna be his eyes and ears around Casa Corazon. However, Yna insists on helping the governor, for she believes that this will lead to the arrest of the person responsible for her brother's imprisonment.

Yna goes to an undisclosed location to report to Eduardo, not knowing that Angelo is keeping tabs on her. But instead of fulfilling what she is supposed to do, Yna ends up taking care of the governor, who has drank himself into stupor after realizing his failures as head of his family. Unaware of what is really going on, Angelo misjudges Yna and decides to make her suffer.

Angelo takes advantage of his position in Casa Corazon to make Yna perform laborious chores, hoping that this will push her to resign and leave. Meanwhile, Claudia, who bears a grudge against the Zalamedas for refusing to acknowledge her and her mother in the past, terminates her business deal with Leonora.

Yna gets her much-needed day off and makes time for other activities that matter to her, such as peddling dishes for extra income and finding her missing necklace. She also gets to hang out with David, Eduardo's trusty political aide. But little does Yna know, her friendly relationship with David is feeding Angelo's wrong ideas about her.

Yna's laborious tasks continue, and this time, she must now replace one of Angelo's valuable herbs, which she used for an emergency. With her job on the line, Yna goes as far as scouring a forest for what her boss needs.

Thinking that Yna is going to meet Eduardo again, Angelo comes up with an excuse to make her accompany him on an island, not knowing that she is preparing a surprise birthday party for her beloved father.

Realizing that he has misjudged Yna, Angelo now tries to make it up to her by throwing another party for her father and including her recipes in Casa Corazon's updated menu.

Angelo finally makes it up to Yna with a sincere apology, and their once sour relationship as boss and employee soon turns into a promising culinary partnership. It is during this time that David decides to be honest with his budding feelings for Yna.

Angelo succeeds in another one of his marketing strategies for Casa Corazon, for his distinguished guests have approved his and his staff's special dishes. But more than that, it is Eduardo's heartfelt praise for Angelo that truly makes the young man happy.

Angelo looks for an opportunity to ask Yna out, only to find himself in what seems to be a developing love triangle with David, who has come up with a way to become closer to Yna. Meanwhile, Eduardo receives an ominous package from a mysterious sender, causing him to fear for his family's safety.

Eduardo recuperates following an assassination attempt on his life, but his situation unexpectedly causes his relationship with Angelo to turn sour again, for the latter thinks that his father is putting on an act for political reasons.

Eduardo carries on with his cause to find and arrest the gambling lords around Punta Verde, notwithstanding the fact that his undercover methods are fueling Angelo's misunderstanding of him.

Yna becomes more focused on Angelo than on the purpose of their trip, thinking that he is depressed by his father's condition. It is only when Angelo gets angry that Yna realizes she misunderstood him. However, Angelo makes a mistake of his own by pushing Yna away, causing them to get separated.

Eduardo and Claudia become uncomfortable about Amor's return as she secretly sets her plans in motion, beginning by using her influence to stop both Diego and Lourdes from leaving the country.
