Behind Bars: America's Toughest Jail

The Brits arrive in America to be met by a welcome from hell. They are stripped of their possessions and transported to 'Tent City' to begin their sentences. But with hundreds of hostile American convicts waiting for them, will all the Brits make it through the night?

After a hostile night locked up in Tent City, a notorious jail known as the "Alcatraz of Arizona," the British lads make first contact with the convicts who have made their lives a living hell, and the regime is too tough for some of them to handle. But worse is in store when they are taken to the secure unit - and join a real Chain Gang.

The Brits make a shocking discovery whilst doing hard labor on the Chain Gang in the blistering desert heat. They are taken to a high security facility to coem face to face with a neo-nazi killer but some of the lads are unwilling to follow the strict rules of America's toughest jail and risk being sent packing.

The lads learn a harsh truth about the prison slop and Dan gets everyone in serious trouble when he is caught stealing from the Sheriff. The Brits are challenged in ways they've never imagined when they have to bury dead bodies.

The lads are pushed to breaking point on the Chain Gang, clearing a homeless camp under the ever-watchful gaze of Officer Siladji, ex-special forces. After days of simmering tension, war finally breaks out between the Brits and Americans when the Brits break an unwritten rule of prison conduct.

The British inmates are taken to meet Eddie "Chunky" Munoz, a gang member awaiting trial for murder. Will it be enough to scare them straight? The lads work at the animal cruelty shelter and discover that Sheriff Joe Arpaio treats his dogs better than his inmates.

While scrubbing gang graffiti in one of Arizona's toughest crime ghettos, there are serious repercussions for one unlucky inmate caught trying to smuggle a cigarette back into jail. That night the jail SWAT team conducts a surprise raid on the British tent, searching for illegal contraband, regardless of which bodily orifice may be hiding it.

After weeks of incarceration in Tent City, America's toughest jail, the Brits come to the end of their jail sentences and can almost taste freedom. But there's still one last surprise in store and James learns shocking news from home.
