Young drifter Billy the Kid rises quickly in the lawless New Mexico Territory, forming a close bond with rancher Pat Garrett, who serves as both friend and mentor. As corruption tightens its grip on the region, Billy is drawn into violence he cannot escape, while Garrett is pulled toward law and order.
