Just For Today

After a family vacation, Anat returns back to her work at the hostel to find Niko, a newly-released prisoner and her ex-lover. Twelve years ago, during her internship as a social worker, Anat was put in charge of integrating Niko back into society. She desperately searched for a job for him, fought the welfare system, and got caught up in his past when a violent gang tried to settle their score.

Sure that Niko is seeking revenge for her calling the police on him all those years ago, Anat is certain that he told management about their shared past, leading to her being summoned to a meeting. Anat gets even more concerned when the hostel she sent Niko to, sends him right back to her. In the meantime, the other ex-cons in the hostel deal with their own issues.

Shlomi fails the soccer team tryouts and almost relapses back to using drugs. Maya feels guilty for letting him down and finds it difficult to help him overcome the disappointment. The return of Niko to Anat's life leads to her husband discovering that Niko might be the biological father of their son. Hanan, who feels that he has been living a lie, fears that Anat never loved him.

Anat goes to a meeting with the Rehabilitation Manager, worried that he is about to fire her. She quickly finds out that he called the meeting to inform her that the hostel will shut down by the end of the month due to budgetary reasons. She can't find it in herself to let her staff and patients know. But by the end of the day, Anat gets into an argument and all the patients come to her aid.

Maya meets Jamil's wife and children, so she can try and prepare them for his return. Apparently Jamil received a 5 years sentence over a false rape complaint, issued by one of his Jewish students. Maya finds out that Jamil hasn't been coming home for vacations and that she has no idea where did he stay every month. While confronting him, she mistakenly reveals something.

Maya feels lost. The hostel was her second home and she doesn't know how to move on. She left her apartment & is living out of her car. She goes to a job interview at a Sex Offenders Hostel, the only hostel that hasn't closed yet. During the interview the hostel's director aggressively questions her personality and professionalism. She points out that Maya has gotten too close to her patients.

Anat needs to write a concluding opinion on all her patients but finds it difficult to write a summary of Niko's treatment. The imminent separation is harder for her than expected. The crisis between Anat and Hanan gets worse and Hanan wants them to go to couples counseling. Anat finds it hard to function between the hostel shutting down and the difficulties at home.

Anat finds overdosed Niko on the brink of death. She saves him using a Narcan injection, which only helps for 3 hours. Niko asks her to let him die. Furious, Anat puts another shot next to him & leaves. But as the 3 hours had almost passed, she returns. She sees Niko failing to inject himself & quickly calls an ambulance. By the time the medics arrive, she realizes that Niko managed to get away.

Shlomi is being blackmailed to join the campaign against his father. His blackmailers threatens him that if he refuses, they will send the photos to the police & he will go back to jail. He reacts with violence, causing the bag that he had swallowed to break, which leads to his death. Jamil is hiding inside the plaintiff's house, he sees that she has been living in fear and regrets the complaint.
