Ami and Chris take a spiritual and professional journey to Hawai'i and meet a master of traditional Polynesian tattooing, Keone Nunes. Keone teaches them about the ancient art of tapping and gives each of them a traditional-style tattoo.

The artists of Miami Ink learn that with success come problems. Ami buys his dream car while Darren risks his life and career by drinking to excess.

Ami threatens Yoji with an ultimatum: if he doesn't improve his drawing, Yoji will have to quit his apprenticeship.

Nuñez's partying ways jeopardize his career and the shop's reputation. Ami spends time with his mom, who is visiting from Israel.

Tensions flare when Ami skips town just as one of the worst hurricanes of the season is about to hit, leaving Nuñez in charge of the shop. Darren tries to convince his wife Carolina to leave her comfortable Connecticut home and move to Miami.

Kat Von D surprises the guys by dropping in from LA. Ami tries to get past the memory of a near death motorcycle accident. He's got to decide if it's worth risking his life and his livelihood to ride again.

While Ami is in Hawaii, leaving Nuñez in charge of Miami Ink, Kat comes in to help. Nuñez replicates an Alphonse Mucha print for Marci, who is celebrating victory over breast cancer. Then, he tattoos famous bike builder Billy Lane.

Miami Ink is very busy. Garver designs a guardian angel for Paul to keep him grounded. Ami continues his Hindu-inspired work on Mike, who is down from New York. Another Mike gets a tattoo from Ami to remind him of the time he spent in Hawai'i as a child.

Darren tattoos Frank, who wants to commemorate an uncle who pushed him to be the man he is today, as he recently committed suicide. Garver helps Cindy to remind herself to love and respect her body after years of battling an eating disorder.

Now that she's 18, Nuñez can give Vanessa a tattoo of her obsession. Darren gives his father his first tattoo, and Nuñez helps Danyel keep her mother's memory alive. Garver helps Harold immortalize the place he learned to skateboard: the WTC.

Ami helps Amber Dawn remember her beloved grandfather with a rosary tattoo. Darren gives rocker Adam something that reminds him that he only lives once. Ami goes all out on a custom design for Shawn. Garver gives Evan an old-school skull.
