Roebuck Season Begins Anew at Trolle Ljungby

The opening of the Swedish roe buck season in August is something special. This is the first of eight episodes following roe deer aficionados Franz Albrecht Oettingen Spielberg and Jean Dominique Strum hunting at Trolle Ljungby Estate in southern Sweden.

Franz Albrecht Oettingen Spielberg has his mind set up on a very special, but also secretive roe buck at his first afternoon at Trolle Ljungby Estate. His hunting companion, Jean Dominique Strum, has a spectacular luck when hunting an impressive old buck – and also sets out to find an antlered doe.

Both Jean Dominique and Franz Albrecht hunts specific roe bucks that they have seen before on Trolle Ljungby. Jean Dominique witnesses the immense effect that a roe buck call can have. And Franz Albrecht not only encounters the old buck he is hunting, but also another buck with a peculiar nickname.

Franz Albrecht has seen a ghost at Trolle Ljungby: A secretive roe buck with an extremely huge and beautiful trophy. The buck has only been seen once before. But Franz Albrecht’s mind is set on finding it again. Jean Dominique and Linus have an equally demanding challenge, hunting a very old and very vary roe buck.

The last evening at Trolle Ljungby Estate. Jean Dominique Strum tries his luck with another very old buck that head keeper Linus Larson knows to reside near the beach. Franz Albrecht Oettingen Spielberg gives tribute to another hunting trip well spend at the estate. At the end of the day, a fantastic display of fabulous roe buck trophies is lined up.

Although just a novice in the art of calling roe bucks in the rut, this particular hunting method is deeply fascinating for the Danish hunter Jakob Mielcke. In this episode he is hunting roe bucks at Trolle Ljungby estate in Sweden and gets the chance to try to call in a buck from a great distance. Stalking another buck he learns a lesson about always being ready.

Mikkel Vendelin Olesen is fascinated by abnormal roe buck trophies, and Linus Larson, the head keeper at the Swedish estate Trolle Ljungby, renowed for its roe deer management, knows just where a buck with a very unusual set of antlers can be found. But things gets a bit complicated when a herd of Holstein cattle decides to participate in the stalk.

Mikkel Vendelin Olesen and Jakob Mielcke has shot some spectacular roe bucks during their stay at Trolle Ljungby. At their last outings they are going for odd and overaged bucks on the culling list. Jakob experiences that the buck he seeks is pushed right out in front of him by a stronger buck. Mikkel receives a similar and very surprising assistance by a wild boar.
