Our story begins in 1985. The Macaluso sisters are five young, orphaned siblings who live in and work from a rooftop apartment in Palermo, making a living by renting doves (yes, doves!) for weddings, funerals, christenings. Near the close of a rare day off, a shocking catastrophe transpires, an event that will change the course of the relationships between the sisters for the rest of their lives.
