Chris is trying to improve: working right, seeing his daughter, and attending therapy. To keep Tilly from moving to London, he lies about a job. DCI Barnes offers him a day job for a dodgy car stop.

The morning after, Chris disposes of the gun, angering Franny, a top Liverpool player. Franny demands fifteen grand by day’s end. Chris asks Jodie for help; she agrees if Chris retrieves drugs at the docks.

Chris and Rachel pay off Franny, but Chris needs a day job, which Franny can secure. Chris agrees to find Vernon for Franny. Rachel works solo, deciding whether to warn Lorna about Steve.

When Chris finally picks Vernon up, he realizes it’s not Vernon Franny wants, it’s what Vernon has. Vernon is in possession of Franny’s Encro phone, the key to Franny’s business dealings.

Chris is frantically looking for a place to sleep and lay low until he is back in his uniform and protected from Franny. Chris goes to the one place he knows no one will find him – his dad’s.

Chris is in deeper than ever, ready to do almost anything for Franny. Almost. When Franny asks Chris to find Casey, it’s deja-vu, will he say yes this time? Casey is on the run from Jodie, who’s found out she is partly responsible for Carl’s death.
