Welcome to Plathville

Kim and Barry Plath have nine kids on a rural farm in Georgia with limited access to the outside world. Now they are faced with a tough decision about an opportunity for their 16-year-old daughter Moriah.

Moriah realizes her dream of going to San Francisco and experiences freedom for the first time. Back at home, Ethan passes the time by hanging at the farm and meeting up with buddies for a few beers over pool.

Moriah returns from San Francisco and shares her experiences with the family. Ethan and Olivia have plans to form a new band playing secular music and attempt to discuss their intentions with Barry and Kim.

Ethan, Olivia, Moriah and Micah have their first band practice together, without Isaac. Olivia expresses to Ethan that the tension with Barry and Kim hasn't allowed them to enjoy their new marriage to the fullest.

Moriah continues her charge towards freedom and begins searching for a college with Kim's help. Then, to help alleviate some stress, Ethan, Olivia, Micah and Moriah take a special trip to the beach.

On a college tour, Moriah realizes what she's missed as a homeschooled student. Ethan and Olivia invite the family out for a restaurant dinner as an early surprise birthday party for Moriah, but an announcement may spoil the fun.
