YAIBA: Samurai Legend (English)

Yaiba’s goal is to become a true samurai and has been training hard in the jungle with his dad, Kenjuro. But training takes an unexpected turn, landing them, along with their tiger companion, back in Japan where soon everything begins to change.

Yaiba will do anything to lure Onimaru into a duel. But it takes Yaiba’s trusty vulture, Shonosuke, trashing his pigeon house to flip a switch and rage. Furious, Onimaru smashes a stone lantern in his backyard, uncovering a secret underground stairway.

This time it’s Onimaru prodding Yaiba for a duel. Only something is off, not least the new horns sprouting from his forehead. Still, Yaiba takes on the strange new Onimaru, but is quickly overwhelmed. The answer, Yaiba’s dad says, is the Raijinken.

Yaiba may have gotten his hands on the Raijinken, but it’s the Thunder God’s power concealed within that has turned the tables on him. Luckily Yaiba has Musashi to help him gain back control. But time is running out. Onimaru is now a possessed oni.

Yaiba and team head to Ganryu Island to learn more about the enigmatic weapon known as the Monohoshizao. The journey is anything but easy, so Yaiba and friends are eager for an escape and visit a restorative onsen. Only relaxation isn’t what they find…

With Mr. Sea Cucumber in tow, Yaiba and crew are back on track to Ganryu Island, but not before making a pit stop in Nagoya. All seems right in the world until they hear his voice. Then a swift bite to the neck changes everything.

Yaiba makes it to Ganryu Island, but the idyllic scenery is hiding something sinister. Onimaru and Mr. Spider’s plan has brought Musashi’s long-dead rival back from the other side and, worse yet, just as he was four hundred years ago.

Yaiba is nearly eliminated by Kojiro Sasaki before being pulled into a spacetime portal. When he comes to, things are very different. But to reverse the time warp, history must repeat itself, and Yaiba’s big mouth may’ve already bungled his chances…

Yaiba’s training under Musashi is beginning to pay off. And while he no longer needs to undergo a kind of exorcism when attempting to wield the Raijinken, exerting even a small amount of control is completely exhausting. Bring on the training!

Yaiba and his friends find out about the so-called Dragon God Orb, prompting another impromptu trip with the promise of gaining gravity-defying powers. An antiquated map points to Lake Biwa and little more. But an undead assassin awaits…

Lake Biwa has hidden not the Dragon God Orb but an aqueous counterpart that helps Yaiba and team make it to Shikoku’s Mt. Tsurugi where, legend has it, the Kincho Tanuki have sealed an orb inside stone. But a ninja now lurks incognito in their midst.

Yaiba and friends may have secured the Gold Orb on Shikoku, but it’s on to Kyushu, and on Yaiba’s back. On arrival, a reunion of sorts reveals a surprising power potentially deep inside the crater of Mt. Aso. But a dangerous duo isn’t far behind…

Now with the Fire Orb, Yaiba’s troupe traipses their way to Nara where they await tip-off from Nadeshiko. Instead, a traveling warrior in training arrives with an odd appeal. That evening, news finally arrives, but this time, it must not be uttered aloud…

Yaiba battles Goemon using the Orb of Giants only to lose two of the valuable spheres to the villain’s guile. With the clash on Kawanaka-Jima imminent, a stop in Hida Takayama brings an unexpected rendezvous with a former pupil of Musashi.

Jubei is now one of the team, giving Yaiba and friends more than a fighting chance at retaking the orb in their rematch against Goemon at Kawanaka-Jima. But the island is a prickly place full of surprises and ninja armies in battle formation.

Team Yaiba unmasks the true nature of the mysterious orb seized from Goemon, and it’s unlike anything the travelers have encountered before. This time, aspirations are a liability. Is this new realm a dream come true? Or is it a nightmare about to unfurl?

With six orbs, the team is eager to get its hands on the final prize. In Aomori, a dilapidated old temple and equally decrepit old man has everyone spooked. Even eerier, the spheres are trembling and glowing, as if reacting to some mystical power.

Guided by an off-the-wall sphere, Yaiba and friends head to Mt. Fuji to find the elusive Dragon God Orb said to be hidden in the crater of the volcano and accessible only with the seven orbs. There Onimaru is waiting, and with a new flourish of the blade.

Yaiba arrives at Mt. Fuji only to be faced with a dilemma he could’ve never imagined. Trickier still is the trial proctored by the mysterious Dragon God. Things are barely off the ground when tragedy hits Yaiba hard, igniting a fury inside his soul.

As he stands before the trial to end all trials, Yaiba is a survivor. But waiting for him is more than the most powerful orb in the universe. The Dragon God now desires decisiveness in the form of an impossible choice. Is it friendship? Or is it power?

With the ultimate orb and a new maken in hand, Yaiba is victorious. But enjoying his newfound glory isn’t in the cards for now. Onimaru and Yaiba tear into each other over the Pacific until something in the sky catches them both completely off guard.
