Compo and Clegg hatch a devious plan to free henpecked Wally and Howard from their wives - if only for a few hours.

After Clegg is visited by three teenage missionaries, Seymour believes it is about time he offered his considerable talents and services to the local vicar, so sets about selling tickets for its staging of The Tales of Beatrix Potter.

Seymour vows that the days of Edie having to carry a dustbin are over.

Having witnessed his sister Edie fail several driving tests, Seymour gallantly volunteers to help teach her. However, because he is unable to control a vehicle himself, he needs a qualified motorist to ride along.

Seymour comes up with another madcap scheme to harness the power of nature using an old sail, a pair of roller skates and, in Compo, a very gullible 'test pilot'.

When Clegg receives news of an old friend dying in America, Compo and Seymour join him on a journey down memory lane, recalling time spent at school walking on gates and climbing trees - forgetting, of course, that it was many years ago.
