Hagen von Tronje, a loyal servant of King Gunter of Burgundy and commander of his army, is secretly in love with the king's sister, Krimhild. When the dragonslayer Siegfried arrives in Worms, tensions arise between him and Hagen due to their opposing personalities. Despite initial conflict, Siegfried helps Hagen and the Burgundians win a crucial battle against invaders.
