The Ladies' Paradise (English Subitled)

Italy, 1956. When Teresa Iorio discovers that her fiancé has betrayed her, she decides to leave Sicily to go to Milan where her uncle Vincenzo lives and works as a tailor. His business is threatened by the newly opened department store, The Ladies’ Paradise.

Teresa’s father is determined to bring her back to Sicily, but she is intent on staying at The Paradise. She informs the owner, Pietro Mori, who also wants her to stay. Meanwhile at The Ladies’ Paradise, expensive clothes start to disappear and Teresa is the prime suspect.

Pietro grapples with financial problems at the store as well as his attraction to Teresa, who has also caught the eye of Vittorio.

After kissing Pietro, Teresa is quite ashamed and starts avoiding him, but their attraction is no secret.

Pietro is ready to propose marriage to the wealthy Andreina. Vittorio takes advantage, seeking the opportunity to get close to Teresa again.

Vittorio continues to court Teresa. Meanwhile, Andreina’s father plots to separate her from Pietro.

Pietro helps Teresa escape an attack by her ex-boyfriend. His heroics leave Teresa feeling torn between him and Vittorio.

Teresa confesses to kissing Vittorio, but insists he’s too much of a womanizer for her. Later, a violent event brings them closer together.

Andreina’s father escalates his campaign against Pietro to a new and much more dangerous level as Vittorio contemplates taking the next step with Teresa.  

Vittorio resigns as The Ladies’ Paradise faces a host of new challenges. Teresa discovers Pietro’s secret, but it seems he has disappeared.
