UFC: Ultimate 175 Greatest Fights 1993-2009

Welterweights Matt Grice and Jason Black were featured in the first fight of UFC 77, a three-round battle which first ends in a draw, but upon re-count of judges scores, became a win for Grice.

Alan Belcher had been working his Muay Thai and showed it off against the dangerous jiu-jitsu specialist Kalib Starnes. Belcher broke out the entire arsenal throwing punches, elbows, and kicks, even flying knees onto the TUF 3 veteran Kalib Starnes.

A battle of grappling as two of the sport's youngest and best lightweights knock it back and forth for three action-packed rounds.

Nate Quarry had been away from the Octagon for nearly two years. His return got off to a rough start as Pete Sell caught him with a left. Sell would love nothing more than ruin Quarry's return and avenge his earlier loss, but it wasn't meant to be for Sell.

Ultimate Fighter season 5 veteran Gray Manard took on UFC newcomer Joe Veres. When it was all said and done it was Maynard who walked away with the second fastest win ever recorded in the UFC!

Luke Cummo and Edilberto Crocota fought a fast and furious fight inside the Octagon at UFN 11. Cummo earned the TKO in less than two minutes.

With the London crowd behind him, England's own Paul Taylor was standing toe-to-toe with former boxer Marcus Davis. Taylor landed a head kick that dropped Davis. But it would take more than that to finish off 'The Irish Hand Grenade'.

Both fighters came out of this with battle scars as they worked each other over in a classic display of skill and practice with Gurgel emerging with the unanimous decision victory.

Maynard dominated the bout with his ground attack, and by the end of the first round, Emerson limped back to his corner with injured ribs. Looking to end things, Maynard jumped right in Emerson's face early in the second and picked him up for a thunderous slam. After referee Steve Mazzagatti waved the bout off, apparently due to the tap by Emerson, the verdict came back as a no contest, with the reasoning being that Maynard was knocked out by his own slam, rendering both fighters unable to continue.

After spending weeks living and training together on The Ultimate Fighter Nate Diaz and Manny Gamburyan squared off to see who would receive the UFC contract and be crowned The Ultimate Fighter Winner. Diaz emerged victorious after Gamburyan dislocated his shoulder early in the second round.

When Anthony Johnson made his Octagon debut it took him only 13 seconds for people to see the talent and power he possessed.

Kalib Starnes and Chirs Leben both came into this fight in desperate need of a win. But it would be Starnes that would give Leben another loss as he won by unanimous decision.

After a few moments of evenly matched action, Sakara hurt Valimaki badly and sent his mouthpiece flying. As referee Mario Yamasaki stepped in to halt the action to replace Valimaki's lost gumshield, Sakara jumped on top of the Octagon to celebrate what he thought was a victory. It wasn't, and it appeared that Valimaki had been given sufficient time to recover, but it wasn't nearly long enough, and once the action resumed, Sakara completed his flurry of punches and Yamasaki rescued Valimaki at 1:44 of the first round.

'The Count' took on 'The King of Rock n Rumble' at UFC 70. Bisping put Sinosic on his back in a dominate first-round performance but in the second round, Sinosic had a few tricks up his sleeve in an attempt to try and spoil the Brit's homecoming.

Ultimate Fighter season 3 winner Kendall Grove faced a huge step up in competition when he took on Louisiana's Alan Belcher.

Kenny Florian lost his first title shot by dropping a 5 round decision to Sean Sherk. He was looking to get back in the win column by taking down the unpredictable Dokonjonosuke Mishima.

Jason Lambert and Renato Sobral both were looking to get back into title contention when they squared off in front of a sold out crowd in Columbus, OH. Lambert took the step forward ending Sobral's night with a TKO in the second round.

When Jackson made his initial walk to the UFC Octagon, complete with his trademark howls, the Mandalay Bay crowd roared, but the cheers turned to boos in a mostly tentative first round that didn't get the fans going again until the final minute. Jackson and Eastman let the hands fly a bit more in the second round as neither fighter backed down.

Two crafty veterans let it all hang out in a battle of lightweight contenders. Fisher's looked to strike his way to a victory over Franca's Jiu-Jitsu, but it was Hermes who emerged victorious in this battle.

After a motorcycle accident derailed his career Frank Mir stepped back into the Octagon to test his resolve against up and coming Brandon Vera. The fireworks were fast and furious as the bout was over in a little over a minute with Vera winning by a shocking TKO.

Drew McFedries moved up to light heavyweight to make his UFC debut. He proved he had the heavy hands and strong chin needed as he traded shots with Sakara to earn an eventual victory.

James Irvin and Hector Ramirez provided the Sacramento crowd with non-stop action through their light heavyweight showdown at UFC 65. Both fighters let it all hang out but Irvin would not go quietly in front of this hometown crowd as he TKO'd Ramirez.

Clay Guida and Justin James did all they could to gain their first UFC wins at UFC 64. Each fighter showed impressive ground skills and both had their fair share of opportunities to finish the fight, but it was Guida who found the opportunity and defeated James by rear naked choke in the second round.

Rory Singer and Josh Haynes may be good friends outside of the Octagon, but the two veterans of the third season of The Ultimate Fighter certainly fought like enemies in their three round middleweight bout, which saw Singer rise from the canvas in the second round and score a bloody three round unanimous decision over his buddy.
