Eleventh Hour

Professor Hood is alerted to the grim discovery of a field filled with the bodies of fetuses all of whom share the same DNA, Hood thinks it is the work of the mysterious Gepetto. Assisted by his Special Branch bodyguard, Rachel Young, Professor Hood sets out to try and bring an end to Gepetto's grisly work.

Professor Hood's task is to oversee the work of the Local Disease Control Committee, an enthusiastic group of volunteer scientists, containing the outbreak and locating the source. Time is crucial here: the virus is highly infectious, and if they don't act swiftly and decisively, a global pandemic will surely ensue.

When Professor Hood hears that his old friend Dr. Richard Adams has suffered a breakdown he goes to see him. Richard Adams has become paranoid and alleges that persons unknown are sabotaging his work about global warming and even threatening his life.

Professor Hood is disquieted to learn from the media that an oncologist called Dr. Williams is claiming that a patient has been cured of his cancer by drinking some local spring water. The claims start an avalanche of interest from cancer sufferers and hundreds of people flock to the source of the spring hoping that they will be similarly cured.
