The Silence of Water

Andrea Baldini oversees the Castel Marciano police and it falls to him to locate Laura, a young missing girl. His search turns up nothing but dead ends, until an anonymous call leads him to a cliff on which there are traces of blood.

The arrival of an outside investigator complicates the search for Laura’s killer as the townspeople close ranks to protect their secrets. Can Andrea help Luisa get people to open up? Laura’s autopsy results bring shocking revelations.

Andrea’s son--and Laura’s ex-boyfriend--Matteo denies being involved in her disappearance, but Luisa wants to run a DNA test to compare against some of the evidence they’ve gathered.

Grazia--Matteo’s girlfriend and Laura’s best friend--is upset by the investigation and runs away. Meanwhile, Andrea is torn between his role as a father and that of policeman. Luisa’s mysterious past continues to torment her.

Laura’s mother, Anna, was having an affair with Franco, a man with a criminal past. As Andrea and Luisa uncover evidence that gives Franco more than one motive to kill Laura, Franco tries to convince Anna to run away with him.

With his last breath, Franco swears to Anna that he did not kill Laura. Was he telling the truth? Meanwhile, Luisa's direct superior--and ex--arrives and ousts Andrea from the investigation. Suspicions fall on Don Carlo.

The blood on Matteo's shoes is Laura’s, but Luisa believes in his innocence. Meanwhile, she and Andrea learn that Don Carlo accompanied Laura to the gynecologist for an abortion. Then, Grazia’s father makes a stunning confession.

Giovanni’s suicide seems to end the investigation, but is it really so cut and dry? Andrea makes a new discovery, and Laura’s last day comes into greater focus. Luisa seems increasingly linked to Castel Marciano and to the memory of Laura.
