In this special, the miners' journey through brutal weather, harsh terrain and extreme emotion is recapped.

The miners return to Greenland to claim their find, but they soon learn the rules have changed. Industry, mining companies and claim jumpers are descending on the island, so they must make it back to the rubies before anyone else.

The miners set their sights set on what Eric believes could be the largest ruby deposit in the Arctic, but their plan of attack quickly unravels as intense fog, insects and unforgiving terrain battle their efforts.

The miners set out for the Red Zone and dive into the rich ruby deposit they discovered last year. However, the mercurial weather, brutal terrain and extreme isolation oppose their every move.

The miners battle Greenland from two fronts as half the team finds huge rubies and the other dredges for gems in the river. As fuel for the dredge dwindles, Chad must find rubies to prove his machine was worth the cost and effort.

While Josh, Chad and John prep the dredge to move to the upper lake, the Red Zone team pulls out rubies by the scores. Low food supply and pending bad weather force the team to muster its strength to finish the job.

The miners are forced to leave their ruby deposit before Greenland devours them. They decide to execute phase two of their operation with the few weeks they have left, and Eric assembles a team to search for gold.

Josh and Eric travel north of the Arctic Circle to Eqi for one last shot at finding gold. Then, Chad faces the scorn of the rest of the team when they must move the dredge another half-mile before they can search for rubies.

The last week approaches and Greenland starts to expose the miners' inner demons, causing brewing betrayals and flaring tempers. Then, two miners face being stranded above the Arctic Circle.
