On the brink of the First World War, fifteen-year-old Anka is sent from her Slovakian village to work as a maid in a wealthy Prague household. Once there, she is charged with looking after Resi, the family’s difficult daughter. Amidst a broken society ruled by patriarchy, the two women find solace in each other, forging an intimate bond simmering with love and desire that transcends class divide.
