Anine is contacted by trauma doctor Anne Siri, who’s raising the alarm about serious circumstances at the hospital. Extremist Mads goes to Aftenposten, the newspaper at which Anine works, with information about rapes committed by foreign men.

At Aftenposten they try to find out who’s behind the bomb. Meanwhile, a police station receives an emergency call about a shooting at Utøya, where terrified youngsters are saying that there’s a policeman walking around shooting people.

Anne Cathrine and the trauma unit regroup to receive the seriously injured youngsters. Mads discovers that the perpetrator has published a manifesto to explain the act of terror and that in this manifesto, Mads is hailed as an inspiration.

At the Riks Hospital, seventy white coffins are lined up awaiting the dead. Anine and Harald begin to reconstruct the police effort and set up a timeline of the events. They discover that the police made some catastrophic errors.

Mads gives an interview and decides to flee the country. Anine gets upset that the expert witnesses conclude that Breivik was criminally insane, and becomes obsessed with finding answers about the act of terror and all the victims.

The court case against Breivik begins. Anne Cathrine meets Anine and tells her about Eivind, a policeman who wants to raise the alarm about a case and a system that’s failing the public.
