Maris is a young and naive man who joins the Wehrmacht during the Nazi occupation of the Baltic States. Despite his initial enthusiasm, Maris soon discovers the horrors of war, especially the atrocities committed against Jewish prisoners. Through Maris' eyes, the audience is transported to a world of fog and shadows, where evil lurks in majestic churches and forests.
